Module Objectives:
1. You will be able to identify the roles of the following elected officials: a. Mayor b. City Council c. City Works Manager d. Sheriff/Chief of Police e. Firefighter f. Newspaper Editor with 80% accuracy on an in-class independent quiz.
2. You will be able to submit a typed article and a job application in which you use informative/explanatory texts to introduce a topic, use facts and definitions to develop points, and provide a concluding statement or section about the job you picked for this web quest. Grading will be based on an Article Rubric and a Job Application Rubric to be provided to you.
3. Collaboratively with your assigned group, you will present YOUR JOB as a component of the Our Community Web Quest. Your Individual and the overall group presentation will be scored based on the Web Quest Presentation Rubric to be provided to you.

Learning Activities and Links:
1. To begin with, your group of six students should look at all of the jobs outlined in this assignment. Each of you will then be required to focus on one particular job, do research for that job, and then complete a job application (application to be turned into the instructor for a grade).
2. Use the provided Web Links from the "Our Community" .PPSM Presentaion to research your chosen profession.

4. You will need to create and present to the class a PowerPoint Slide about that position (as a Component of the Completed PowerPoint Web Quest – this is for a Group Grade).
5. You will need submit an article about your duties and responsibilities to the local newspaper, The Snyderville Gazette – (this article will be turned in to the instructor for a grade).
6. Download the "Our Community" Web Quest Power Point Presentation - it is listed it in 2 file formats (.pptx can be edited, .ppsm is for viewing the Power Point Demo only).
7. You will need to edit the Power Point Web Quest to include information about your chosen job.
8. Students will need to discuss with peers either over the phone, in our classroom blog, via e-mail and/or in class to coordinate the completion of the assignments.
9. Each student is also expected to speak with the instructor either in class, on the phone or via email at least once to discuss individual progress towards completion of this assignment.
10. Each student is expected to participate in the Computer Lab blog and to post at least one comment or discussion question on a weekly basis. At least nine posts will be required to get credit for this component. Our Classroom Blog is listed in the Header Section of this website.
